5/07/2011 - Ni Hao - Official Negotiations

Another day of negotiating with Chinese officials. Finally got the car out of the container at about 12pm but the battery was dead flat. We couldn't jump start it and had to push it out. Then our Chinese agents panciked about the food in the truck so they madly started grabbing everything out and loading it into our van before we pushed it around the corner for inspection.

I can't believe they are so dum as to let you offload the vehicle yourself empty all goods then push it in for customs inspection!

Anyway it passed but then when we went to get the final signature they knocked off for a 2 hour lunch! Start work at 10 knock off at 12 for lunch. Finished by 4.30 - easy! So......... we have to come back tomorrow morning.
I had to write the engine no on my chubby fingers as they want you to read it off the engine but it is very difficult to see so the trick is to take a torch, lean in under the bonnet and read it out to them!Today we had 8 agents working and arguing on our behalf to release the car. I swear one of them looks like that guy off Hangover!

Not looking forward to driving back to Beijing from Tianjin port at all.

The lane markings mean nothing at all here. They see a spot and aim for it. People walk and work on the motorway lanes as you drive down and they pass on the shoulder no worries. The man holes are sometimes missing so you have to swerve to avoid losing a wheel in the hole.
But........ the food is pretty good and we are not working so all is good!Weird chinese sextoy no 3 attched. Check out the engrish!!
Enjoy.
